Celebrating women's hair at its most dramatic
Back to main styles index
Ponytails are more typically noted for their convenience than for any visual style appeal, but aside from being the fastest way of getting long hair up & away from the neck and ears during the heat of summer, out of the face on a windy day, they can show a certain carefree prettiness and femininity.
Braids may serve just the same purpose and, although lacking the same ease and simplicity, they otherwise suggest a greater effort and creativity – whether worn simply, or decoratively.
As this gallery evinces, even when long and healthy hair is worn back in either a braid or ponytail, the wonderful thing is how its length, beauty, texture and vitality remain clearly distinct.
