Celebrating women's hair at its most dramatic
Back to main styles index
The quintessential “classical” bob, like Mozart, has been around for centuries but, when it comes to bobbed hair in general, probably its greatest ambassador is Vidal Sassoon. His influence in the 1960’s has popularised and defined the essence of the bob as it’s still known today.
Classic bobs can vary widely in length: they can be cut very short to around cheek level, or can even skim across the shoulders, but the main characteristic is the hair falls at one length from the parting, and not extending beyond the collar bone. Their easy to wear appeal offers a balanced practicality between shorter hair that retains feminine swing & movement, and freedom from the weight and maintenance of long styles.
This section mainly consists of the longer, chin-length bobs, but also includes some with fringes/ bangs.
